
Camp Gagetown Physical Fitness Program
The Physical Fitness
program is administered by a Fitness Coordinator
(loc 3536) and six Fitness & Sports
Instructors. PSP F&S instructors regularly attend clinics,
conferences, and courses to be kept abreast of new trends
and cutting edge methodologies in physical fitness conditioning.
Note, instructors are not trained in or certified for nutrition
counseling. Some of the services the program & staff
offer are:

Fitness conditioning periods including
circuit training, aerobics, stability ball.

Fitness conditioning periods in the pool.

A wide range of physical fitness evaluations
for military personnel.

A Supplementary Training Program aimed
although not restricted to those members not meeting
the Minimum Physical Fitness Standard (MPFS). This program
runs every day of the week 1100-1140hrs except wknds.

Obstacle Course Supervisor training.

Rock Wall Supervisor training.

Physical fitness education clinics /
lectures in strength training / aerobic conditioning,
proper warm-ups/cool-downs, etc.

Personnel fitness programming.
For indoor scheduling requests during the work-week
the local is 422-2000 ext. 3537. Note, all requests for facilities
outside of the annual unit allocations schedule, which require
the use of a Fitness Instructor i.e. circuit training, aerobics
or life guarding in the pool should be made a minimum of
two weeks in advance of request. All other bookings
for facilities, which do not require the use of a Fitness
Instructor, should be made a minimum one week in advance.
Evaluations Cell
Most military fitness evaluations are booked
through this office (local 2425). It should be noted that
individual members are to go through their own unit Expres
Coordinators to book evaluations. If you are not feeling
well or have any doubts about attempting the test, it is
recommended you see a Medical Officer prior
to coming for an evaluation. The same direction applies if
you answer Yes to
any of the following questions:
This Questionnaire is a screening device used
to identify personnel for whom a fitness evaluation or physical
activity might be inappropriate at this time.
To the best of your knowledge:
- Do you have a medical condition which restricts you from
participating in a fitness evaluation or a progressive
training program?
- Do you have arthritis or any other recurring problems
with your shoulders, elbows, wrists, pelvis, back, hips,
knees, ankles or feet which may prevent you from participating
n a fitness evaluation or a progressive training program?
- Do you experience pain, tightness, squeezing or a heaviness
in your chest when you exercise?
- Do you ever get dizzy or faint when you exercise?
- Have you ever had a heart attack, a stroke or other heart-related
problem?
- Do you suffer from such things as asthma, bronchitis,
emphysema, diabetes, hypoglycemia, epilepsy, high blood
pressure or cancer?
- Are you pregnant or do you believe that you might be?
- Are you taking medication (prescribed or otherwise) that
could affect your ability to undertake a fitness evaluation?
- Is there any other reason you would like
to talk to a physician prior to you fitness evaluation or training
program?
